That would be Indre, Loire and Cher : we worked out a cycle route that covered all three , plus a few chateaux. And decent weather forecast !
.. being too mean to pay entrance fees , we viewed all those chateaux from the nearest road. Except Azay, which is mostly hidden, so Lianne ingeniously (ie cheating) just photographed the poster for it ! It was about a 60km tour : the cycle routes are only briefly on main roads, a fair bit is on quiet minor ways, some along the top of the Loire levee, some on hard packed sand tracks by the Indre… And a short bone shaking section on cobbles ( by the Cher).
Then in the evening we took our portable cooker to the side of the river by our campsite, had a fry up and watched … Fish rising for flies, a kingfisher darting right across the river towards us and back again, and later flocks ( herds ? swarms? flanges ?) of bats. Very very …soothing
