Recipe Tips for Campers

Last update was Thursday night, now it’s Saturday 1st June .

The ferry crossing was uneventful (as we like it to be when we are bobbing about on cold sea encased in a heavier-than-water metal superstructure), and we got to the campsite in Zeeland before 8pm.

It wasn’t actually raining at this point, so we hurried to get the van and awning set up before the clouds spotted us. Have got a beautiful quiet secluded spot in a “Natuurcamping”. ( This does not mean clothing is optional. But it is very green)

Bit early with the Xmas shopping this year ?

Met up with our friends Marie and Andrew who recently added a Tent Box to the top of their Landrover, and are enjoying sleeping up on the roof.

Apparently, wind speeds over 34mph carry a risk of the tent spontaneously retracting. Hope those Mexican beans don’t trigger it tonight.

Spent a happy day tootling round Veere together, and even dared a paddle in the north sea where fearless windsurfers / kitesurfers were scudding across pretty wild waves ..

Surely over 34mph ???

Back in dry van, we had a hearty dinner of Lianne’s famous Mexican Bean Bake, during which Marie let us in on the secret of their own meal preparation. Now, I think this deserves to be shared more widely. Her actual words were :

” I do the washing up, and Andrew cooks the water “

Anyone else care to swap recipes ?
