S-s-s-Saskia – You’re Breaking My Heart

(…and you’re shaking my comfy tents daily)

Sunday was spent in this motley company, preparing to celebrate the 60th birthday of Lianne’s good friend Saskia .

A Scotsman, a Dutchman, an Englishman, an Irish lady and 2 Dutch girls walk into a campsite – make your own punch line.

We rehearsed our tribute act ( to the tune of Cecilia), with special focus on the novelty dog training act delivered very convincingly by Maria. Then it was off to the harbour in Veere to see how  Saskia’s house renovation is coming on ( beautifully ) and perform the song for her ( enthusiastically). She did a good impression of enjoying it all, fed us with quiche , crackers and beer, and a fine afternoon was had by all . Fortunately we got a dry, bright afternoon, and it turns out her sister’s family are big fans of the Beautiful South ,( !) so we also got through a few verses of Rotterdam, Song for Whoever etc.

The way to a girl’s heart …..
Sing-along-a-Sas !

It was getting dark when she turfed us out , and I got the chance to ride on the back bench of a Discovery , over cobbled speed bumps all the way back to our camp site – the trick is to wedge yourself against the ceiling and door, I found.

Haven’t you lot got tents to go to ??
