Return to Lauterbrunnen

Yaaay – just 2 fairly easy days on the road from NL, and we are back in our fave camping site ever – near the top of Lauterbrunnen valley , south of Interlaken

The fact that it’s in a narrow, vertiginously- walled valley has caused some alarm in the wake of the recent disaster at Blatten.  Our campsite has a reassuring message on its website , pointing out that this is a very different valley and, you know, loads safer, probably.  Which is good to know , as there’s plenty of quite heavy stuff  balanced over our heads here.

It’s reet steep , and quite pointy on top

So, if there is a sudden interruption in our broadcasts, there’s absolutely no reason to panic. None at all.

To demonstrate our confidence, the first thing we did this afty was to cycle down to the station and buy two rail passes that will  give us access to all the cable cars and mountain rail tracks in this area. We plan to stay here to the end of June, so there will surely be some bright clear days to take full advantage of….

One benefit of the recent rain is that the waterfalls by our site are jolly impressive

View from our pitch. You can just make out the cable car line up to Mürren, reputedly steepest in the world. Has to be done, then !
