Second and final day here. Damp. Tried to follow cycle route signs – a bit variable compared to NL and at one point a signposted track simply stopped dead. But the scenery was grand, and we got some hill-work in. Back to Roche en Ardenne, where Lianne topped up her caffeine intake while I went round the war museum. It’s not something I normally do, but was intrigued to find out what the Battle of the Bulge actually was about. Depressing to see it resulted in Roche being mostly levelled , as each side tried to blast the other out. This resistance production was a rare spot of humour –

Ik kan me voorstellen dat je een dubbel gevoel hebt bij die humor als je ziet welke groepen allemaal geëlimineerd moesten worden. Lianne heeft bij mij helemaal geen koffie gedronken terwijl ze zo hard gewerkt heeft.

Beq and I have covered that area as I dragged her around on a Battle of the Bulge pilgrimage when we lived in Germany. Beautiful countryside with some rather nasty ghosts from the the bitter winter fighting there.
