Mutters with mother

On Saturday, Max thought he would show the parents a pensioner-friendly ascent in the Mutters-Natters region ( no, really, it isPresumably they are a chatty bunch , and rejected Nutters-Matters as unsuitable).

Discovered our guest pass entitled us each to one free ride up the egg lift from Mutters, so it was rude not to .

A mere 5 miles round – which felt harder than this tiddly red line suggests.

Austria does not believe in flat paths, except along the valley bottom. It was a stroll by Max standards , but a good workout for us.  ( He casually mentioned that his last run had been rated at 600 ( some measure of energy burned )  by his  Strava app – our walk came in about 30 …)

No, we did NOT get to the top of that one.

However, we did enough to justify a carbo-heavy lunch at the mountain hut (‘alm’) of Götzens, featuring the densest dumplings I’ve ever tried ( ooo-er).  With which ballast inside us, the walk back was another challenge .

Mountain lake, featuring hungry newts and unsuspecting tadpoles.

We did get great views down over the Inn valley ( Innsbruck being ” Bridge over the River Inn” ), and spotted an amusing sign on that way back to the car,  if you like that sort of thing  –
