Spend the most rainy day of the trip so far driving down from Belgium to Osenbach, south of Strasbourg. It’s a fascinating area with picture postcard villages of brightly painted Swiss choccy box houses. Place names are mostly Germanic, as are the tourists. Went on what was meant to be a gentle cycle ride along the wine trail ( Veloroute des Vignobles ) , but when your start point is at 400m altitude you can’t avoid a bit of serious climbing at some point. And indeed, getting off to push when the road becomes dirt track, then becomes a narrow rocky mountaineering path…



Most notable stop was the unpronounceable Eguisheim, 2013 winner of Favourite Village in France . Ooh and Aah pictures –
