Heading home ( part I )

We had decided to set off back on Sunday 30th as it had been predicted to be wet all day – and it did not disappoint. Our hosts Alfred and Annalies bid us a warm goodbye from le Petit Papillon, and we headed off NE via Dijon, aiming to make Luxembourg or Belgium for an overnight stay.

We did pass a place that sounds like it should be twinned with Montsermage, as per the previous entry …

“Have you watered the brains, Igor ? ” Nay, Doctor, not yet…”

Otherwise, a refreshingly uneventful trip ; it seems like the solution to our squealing brakes might be constant water cooling ( rain).

Late afternoon, we arrived at a simple campsite at Arlon, just inside Belgium, which seems designed for overnight pitstops like ours,  as opposed to anyone actually wanting to holiday in the area.

Statue of Liberty is in charge of the men’s loo on the campsite here. ‘Bring me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses…..and don’t forget your own soap and bog paper”

Watched the 93 minutes of frustration from England, followed by 2 goals out of nowhere to scrape an undeserved win over Slovakia , just when I was hoping they would go out quietly and we could all just relax.

A much shorter trip onwards tomorrow, anyway.
