Sunday 29th
It being a sunny weekend, we thought it best to ignore the more well known places and head for a quiet local walk just down the valley. Driving up to the village car park to start , I was confused by Google Maps showing the road apparently taking a 360 degree loop, then crossing back through the loop … ?

This turned out to be a spiral tunnel, climbing through the mountain – only wide enough for 1.7 normal cars but with occasional passing places. Luckily not busy, but very odd and disorientating .
Then we had a classic small cable car ride (a total contrast with the previous day’s Eiger Express, and shown in that post for comparison ) . We rode up with a chatty maintenance chappie who told us that actually that very Schilthorn/ Piz Gloria team now have the responsibility to manage this small cable car, presumably as a way to share out the revenues around the valley – it’s a pretty essential access route for locals here.
Walked up further from the top of the lift & and found a lake where locals come to swim, and a quiet little bar.

And on the way down we got a cheeky close up of everyone’s favourite protuberance ( as seen from Schilthorn view of peaks earlier in the holiday) –

Stop sniggering at the back !

I think the road route was trying to spell something significant?
probably ” Turn back now !”
