It’s Morvan a Feeling

Cloud hanging round the mountains here in Chartreuse means that we have abandoned our walking plans and spontaneously decided to move camp a day early . Hey, that’s just the kind of wild, unpredictable kids we are. Like a pair of reckless teenage runaways ( with a caravan , and fully-insured family car, travelling at a constant 55mph) we are heading towards the Morvan area, NW of Lyon, cos it looks sunnier for next couple of days. Now THAT’S rebellion for you.

Mor van than sense, that’s us

BDO UPDATE

First 16km or so were along narrow, twisty mountain roads and we soon discovered that the van brakes may not be fine after all. The squealing was back for 20 minutes or so, followed by an ominous silence. Stopping the car, we checked and detected a distinct smell of burning coming from both wheels of the van. Have a nasty feeling that we have indeed worn out the hub brakes / brake shoes. There’s not much we can do about this until at least Holland, so for now we are just avoiding any roads with hills / roundabouts / junctions as far as possible.  Autoroutes all the way, I’m afraid.  Which takes its toll in a more immediate financial sense, but is smoother on the tech.

In other travel news  …

I can’t believe I forgot to mention this place that we passed weeks ago on the way south. We really should move there just for the postal address. And Chichi agrees ( I expect ).

Well it’s sunny in the Limousin this morning as I munch my croissant- we have been slightly less energetic than you but are contemplating kayaking an the campsite lake today. Hope the brakes hold out!

    1. Good luck with kayaking – sitting in that position always cripples my back, but you flexible young things will be fine . 😁
