Oeschinensee – lovely !

27th June

“Ooh, isn’t she won-der-fu-ul…” (Any Stevie Wonder fans here ? Ah, well )

Another UNESCO World Heritage Site – they seem to be 10 a centime round here. That’s the trouble, you can get a bit blasé after a couple of weeks of this glorious landscape.

But we decided to get the car out for the second time this holiday ( steady !) and back up the Lauterbrunnen valley we pottered.

An hour’s drive round 3 sides of an Alpine square

Got cable car up from Kandersteg before joining well marked trail up above the lake, then dropping down beside it for the way back.

Slightly hazy day, so not too hot for the climbing, but does make our photo’s a bit washed out.

The inevitable downside of a UNESCO site is that it doesn’t half attract the crowds – we mitigated that a bit by avoiding the weekend, but it was still busier than I would like – ie you could usually hear other people’s voices, and frequently passed them in both directions. I tend to always head as far away from humanity as possible when out in nature, but that wasn’t easy here. There is a whole lotta Instagramming going on. Then again, it is a beautiful spot, so what do you expect ? Bloody bloggers too 🤔.

  1. By eck! Some cracking views, colours and trails in those pics. Absolutely stunning and you can understand why it’s so popular, but I blame the bloggers most of all!
