Enough of this uphill stuff – Wednesday was time to head down to the Rhone, just east of us, and try a taste of the long distance cycle paths that stretch hundreds of miles from north of Lyon right down to the Med.

Based on our trial, I can report that these are basically long and flat, excepting when you go up a bit to cross a bridge, which is fun.

We got as far as Valence , which was jolly pleasant but not exceptional, so I spent some time thinking of song titles that could easily be adjusted to reference this epic waterway. I’m sure our readers can suggest improvements :
Banned on the Rhone ( or indeed, Born to Rhone)
Sex and Drugs and Rock and Rhone
Hanging on the Telly for Rhone
Rudolph ( the red nosed Rhone deer)
Country Rhoneds ( Lianne’s fave)
Rhone-eo and Juliet
(We’Rhone-ly ) Making Plans for Nigel
B-Rhone Sugar
And a double A side from Les Garçons de la Plage :
I Get a-Rhoned / Help me, Rhone-der
(I’ll get me Cote… de Rhone ).

I don’t know about Rhone, but some of those titles make you groan! I think that bodes well on your relaxing into the tour now indicators!
That was the idea 😉
Excellent set of song titles there. My contributions as follows:
ARhone Again Or by Love
Rhone to You by ByRhone Adams
Anything by Raw Sex as they Feature Rowland RiverRhone
Flowers in the Rhone by The Move
Here Comes the Rhone Again by Eurhythmics
Heir to the ThRhone by Ashen Reach
JRhone of Arc by OMD
Great stuff. Surely we can think of a Queen track too ?
Lazing on a Sunday After Rhone ? Hmmmm
And Dazzo suggested :
Gordon is a moRhone (nice, though I think the title was Jilted John)
Isn’t it iRhonic?
Da do Rhone Rhone ( by the Rhonettes)
