And they’re (dropping) OFF !

Just like the appearance of Xmas decorations in high streets, it feels like  our summer trips are starting earlier each year . And with an early  trip comes the excitement of spotting the first BDO of summer. Here it comes….

Bits Dripping Off / Bottom Dropping Out

After hooking up the ‘van we have to negotiate some sharp little speed ridges through the storage site. Driving over one of them I thought I heard a nasty scraping sound , so stopped the car to investigate. This was the view from under the nearside rear door ….

Thunderbirds may not be GO ?

Definite BDO material – in fact the gaping opening looks like Thunderbird 2 preparing to launch TB4 from its pod.

Scooting round to the back of the car and looking forward, it seems there’s a bit more ground clearance than appeared from the side on view – we may be ok.

I can’t reach under far enough to work out how it’s come unattached or try to bodge it back on. And since it is Bank Hol Monday, there’s no professional help available, so there are no good options apart from driving on cautiously and just hoping the car doesn’t spill vital organs onto the A1.

………

Time ( and distance) passes …. without photographic evidence.

……..

Harwich ho !

No news along the way was definitely good news – reached campsite at Harwich without the bottom dropping any further out.

Celebration time !

So tomorrow we just need to make it to the rels on the Belgian border. Lianne’s nephew has a proper tractor workshop where we can take a look at the damage.

  1. Gripping first installment. The bit hanging down looks like a plastic protective cover that’s come loose.

    1. It does indeed. The question is what it was protecting, how well it did it when it got bashed, and what happens without it . It doesn’t do to minimise the DRAMA of BDO !

  2. Got to have drama to keep the fanbase on the edge of their seats. Or on the edge of their Skodas.
